Then he explains the city manager asked all employees to cut their salary and benefits, but has not asked the police and fire to give back the 12% raises they just received in late 2019.
July 7, 2020 - City Council Meeting - Comments by Brian Jobst - He explains that the City Manager and Mayor Tony Wu make up the council agenda and that they purposefully removed the option to email public comments to the City Clerk to be read out loud during the council meetings. He explains that this is unprecedented times and how he felt it was retaliation to the 30+ emails of negative comments about the Mayor and City Manager during the last meeting on June 23, 2020.
July 7, 2020 - City Council Meeting - Mayor Tony Wu - Reverses the decision to eliminate the reading of emailed public comments out loud during the council meeting. It appears that the mayor and other city council members received enough emails or phone calls from residents expressing their displeasure with this sudden and quiet change.
